The Art of the Mind
There is something that happens when we are in front of mirrors...Something special...something damn near magical I guess...You can't really put your finger on what it is, but you know it's there.....

I've found that most people arae afraid of themselves...And I think that's what that feeling is...fear and anxiety...

Kind of like when you meet someone new for the first time....Most people get this quick concept of wanting to be accepting by the new person...hoping that you don't come off the wrong way...and even hoping that they aren't shady type of person...Thats fear and anxiety....But its different in the mirror....

See, when you're alone with your mirror, brushing your teeth, checking so that your clothes look alright, or maybe just looking....For some reason, you find that its not whether or not you like what you see...

You're really hoping that the reflection likes you...as ridiculous as it sounds...and because it is you, you may start antagonizing yourself a little...Maybe you notice a few extra pounds, or your hair needs something different, or you don't look right in that outfit...Thats not always just preference........Anxiety and Fear.....

For that instant, for that brief instant, you are looking at the glass to see if you are up to par...The mere fact that you are questioning if your looks meet the standard places you in a submissive role of finding acceptance...Where you can't really tell what goes on in the head of a new person, you actually DO konw what goes on in the head of the reflection, and while your logic acknowledges that you're just looking at yourself, there is still a part of you, that insecure-questioning part of you, that feels that the reflection must smell your yearning for acceptance since it is you afterall....Yes, Fear and Anxiety...

So what do we do?...We just glance at the mirror...We stare at the shoes to make sure they shine right....We look at our front and back to look for wrinkles.....We keep focus on that hair out of place and that zit too much in place....We do what we have to do and try not to look in the eyes...Cuz see, thats where it's at...You can be insecure and not confront it....As long as you don't look in the eyes your good....Because if you look in the eyes, then you'll notice that they are staring at you staring at them staring at you...And well, thats just awckward...

....even if it is just your reflection...
